The Walking Dead "Trigger Finger" Recap/Review

The "Trigger Finger" sticker from GetGlue (from AMC)

*SPOILER WARNING*

Lori must have been having pregnancy brain last episode and got hit, even though it lead to some tense scenes at the beginning.

So remember dumb ass #1 and #2 from the last episode? They weren't alone.  Reminds me a lot of Rick's time at the Governor, with the people being more threatening than the zombies.  It's good stuff, even if they have horrible Philly accents.  Guess Flyers fans survived the outbreak.

The TV show has taken liberties with a lot of characters and a few of them have worked well.  Carol having a quasi-relationship with Daryl is one of them.  It's small things like that which please the fan of the comics in me.

Yummmmmmmmy......upper lip.  Hershel trying to remove the kids leg was tense.  It's been great time watching the people talking (not sarcasm), but zombies were needed at this point in the season.  The new show runner, Glen Mazzara has done a good job of bringing up the action.

Lori's crash seemed to be useless, only giving Shane a reason to lie to her and announce the pregnancy to Carl.  That kid is slowly descending into a colder character...maybe bringing to head something that happened in the comics?  Chandler Riggs does a great job as Carl in this episode, and this season in general.

Daryl's massive rant to Carol brought up some interesting character problems that have been bubbling with him. We know he cared for Sophia, but we didn't know THAT much.  My girlfriend has the theory that since Daryl is from a broken home, and so is Sophia.  Interesting theory, which I think is correct.

Having Shane around has only strengthened the show.  It was a mistake killing him off soon in the comics.  Seeing him react to Lori telling Rick is one of the scenes I would have loved to see in the comics.

Another character difference from the comics is Dale and Andrea not having a relationship and even fighting often.  But the Glenn and Maggie relationship is almost exactly like the comics.  That's one of the best relationships in the comics, and I'm happy they didn't change anything.

I don't understand having Hershel's daughter (other daughter) be in this coma-y thing.  It might lead to something good, but it's hard to see at the moment.

Lori, I know boobs help everything, but talking about some other guy you slept with while topless doesn't soften the blow.  Just trying to help.  Dale's conclusion that Shane killed Otis is a little out there and seems a little deus ex machina to help the plot along, and Lori bringing it up brings that bad taste back.

So it was a good episode overall.  The extra action helped liven up the episode (hehe...liven), but it didn't overpower the focus of the show.  It's very clear that by the end of the season, something is going to happen with Shane.  Any reader of the comics somewhat knows what is going to happen, but the question is if the writers are going to do the same thing again.  The original way worked so well, they don't really need to change much.  You can see that the writers are getting ready for the end of the season, and it looks to be one hell of a ride.  As I said before, the beginning of the episode reminded me of Rick's time with the Governor, which has been nagging me this entire season.  I could be seeing hints that the writers are dropping for that storyline.  They should tackle the prison first though.  Back to the episode though.  It's good, and will get fans ready for the season finale in a month or so.

Trigger Happy gets 4/5.
